Adult, Teen, and Couples Therapist
The most important piece of successful counseling is the therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist. When this relationship is strong, with you and your counselor working together, solutions and resolution of difficulties can, more often than not, be achieved, and you can experience healing and happiness.
My counseling style is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a strong evidence-based treatment. The benefits of cognitive behavioral therapy are multifold: You can not only discover the root of your thought processes and redirect them, but you can also change your behavior. I believe in a collaborative treatment between therapist, doctors, psychiatrists, and other professionals during a client’s treatment. Healing often has several components and when those components are working in synchronization, there is efficiency and alignment in the healing process.
My experience includes counseling adults and adolescents experiencing issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, histories of self-harm, and those with suicidal ideation, as well as those who have been hospitalized. I also have experience in marital and family counseling, parenting skills, grief and loss, as well as individuals who experience low self-esteem, addiction and substance abuse, and anger management.
Often, when a member of the family is experiencing emotional difficulty, there is an impact on the entire family. Sometimes, even just a few appointments with other members of the family, or the entire family, can help the family regain openness, communication, and harmony. I am currently undergoing training in the Gottman Method in order to integrate that into my marriage, couples, and family counseling.
