Individual, Couples, Adolescent & EMDR Therapist

Life can be complex, chaotic & messy AND it can be thriving, connective & beautiful. I have a warm, multi-dimensional personality and believe in the healing power of humor. Intuitive in-taking, reflection, directness, and curiosity are core strengths I’ve always possessed. I consider it an honor to empower people to uncover systems of their lives that no longer serve them while fostering empathy and openness to reaching a more fulfilling life.

I help you deepen awareness of what you’re experiencing, uncover the pieces that are out of awareness, and navigate ways to show up as your most authentic self. Therapy can be a transformative experience, where we begin to challenge ourselves to grow, and while not always easy, I sincerely believe it’s worth it having walked it myself: grief and loss through divorce, anxiety, and a self proclaimed recovering perfectionist and learning to live within my values and integrity. It is my honor to join you on your path.

It is a privilege to provide a welcoming, empathetic and non judgmental space with you to forge a path while maneuvering the obstacles ahead of you. I truly believe you have all the answers deep beneath the many layers of your being. It is there that healing begins, bringing you closer to embodying your authentic self and all it encompasses. I am continuously amazed by the capacity my clients have and believe in the resilience of the human spirit.

As a couple’s counselor, I can help you rebuild your relationship, develop new tools for communication while eliminating barriers that prevent connection and vulnerability. I am trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I wholeheartedly believe we heal and thrive through our relationships, where trust and genuineness are the foundation for change to take place. I can also help prepare couples in need of navigating through conflict resolution, communication skills, intimacy, boundary setting, and creating their vision for their future.

Individual & Adolescent Therapy

As your individual therapist, l specialize with adults facing eating disorders, body imagetrauma, relational difficultiesanxietydepression, attachment issues and family of origin work. We will work to combat shame, perfectionism, dig deeper into feeling our feelings and learn alternative methods of coping. I also specialize in working with teens, ages 15-17, to overcome eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, building relationships, anxiety, depression and working through life transitions.

Therapeutic Approaches

I am an EMDR Trained Therapist and strongly believe in its effectiveness for trauma and other concerns you may be facing. If it doesn’t feel right for you, I also utilize an integrative approach of modalities pulling from Person-Centered Therapy, Attachment-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral, Adlerian, and LogoTherapy.

Women’s Issues

I have a special place in my heart for working with the concerns and hurdles we face as women: divorce, infertility, body image, domestic violence and juggling life’s challenges. Therapy can be the open door that we walk through towards a path of restoration – in mind, body, soul, and spirit.

What Clients Are Saying:

Sessions are going very well with Ametis. I like her ability to create a comfortable and open environment. She is a great conversation starter, and it’s easy to express ourselves about anything. Ametis is very welcoming and a great listener.

We love Ametis. She is exactly the person we needed to help manage our situation. With her help and guidance, we truly feel stronger as a couple. She has been a blessing, especially through the craziness the epidemic has thrown at us.

I feel safe/secure in my therapy/client relationship with Ametis. I have been In therapy more than 10 yrs and last 2 yrs with Ametis, I have made more progress in my mental/emotional health. Ametis, you are a God-send.

She just gets me.

The sessions were rough at first, but Ametis was able to get us taking and comfortable with each other. We’ve gained better communication skills and aren’t holding in emotions anymore.

Ametis always summarizes what I’m saying to make sure she understands me and it makes me feel like she really is listening and cares. I have processed trauma from my childhood and am improving with trust in my relationship.
