Houston Adult and Adolescent DBT Therapist
Off the bat, let’s get a few things straight. I’m from NYC, raised in Manhattan, but spent most of my adolescence in the Bronx. I walk fast, I talk fast, and sometimes I curse. This is true.
But here’s the thing: I love working with people, and I love being a part, no matter how big or small, of their healing when they need it and ask for it. I want to be there for you. I will validate and support the parts of your lives and experiences that need that.
And I will also mindfully challenge the things that are hurtful to yourself, your family, and any strangers that get in your way. And when I challenge, it is with no malice or disrespect. It’s just about learning how to wake ourselves up, and be better than we were the day before. Everyone needs that.
I am intensely trained in dialectical behavior therapy, which means I work with you, and your family, to identify the most pressing and dangerous behaviors that you want to address. Then, as a team together, we will adapt specific skills to your life to manage those behaviors, so they reduce the severity of your sadness, anxiety, anger, and fear.
Addiction and Trauma Therapist
In my 20 year career, I have most often worked with young adults and adolescents, their families, and the struggles that come with substance abuse and behavioral addictions. Assisting with depression and self-harm is generally a large part of my work. Trauma work and learning to manage the enormous pain that comes with it, is also a focus of mine. Oftentimes, these are all connected things.
I am well aware that not everything works out perfectly. Trust me on that. But progress is the goal, not perfection. If you choose to work with me, you will be validated and comforted, and also challenged. Often, all at the same time.
