Starla's Focus
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all—everyone’s story is unique, and I tailor each session to meet your specific needs and goals. My approach is empathetic, direct, and supportive, creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and challenged in ways that promote real growth. I believe in having honest, meaningful conversations and won’t shy away from difficult topics.
I also recognize the deep impact that family dynamics, relationships, and external environments have on mental health. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you feel empowered to work through challenges, strengthen connections, and build a foundation for lasting change.
You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to guide and support you in uncovering what works best for you. I want you to feel safe, supported, and comfortable, especially when discussing difficult topics. Therapy isn’t just about emotional support- it’s about learning practical tools and making real changes that help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Starla's Other Specialities
My Practice is Grounded In:
✔ Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Understanding how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors
✔ Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Building emotional regulation and coping skills
✔ Trauma-Informed Care – Creating a safe space to explore past experiences without judgment
✔ Strengths-Based & Empowerment Approaches – Helping you recognize and build on your inner strengths
✔ Systems Theory – Addressing how family, school, work, and community impact mental health and well-being
I’m especially passionate about helping kids, teens, and adults to develop emotional regulation skills that last a lifetime. Learning to process emotions in a healthy way not only improves overall well-being but also breaks negative cycles and strengthens relationships.

More About Starla
I’ve experienced firsthand the power of therapy, self-reflection, healing, and resilience, and I know that change is possible—even when it feels out of reach. I want to help you see your own strength and remind you that you are capable of healing, growing, and creating a life that truly feels like your own.
When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my three dogs, hitting an Orange Theory class, hiking, or traveling to new places whenever I can. I love both the beach and the mountains, and nothing helps me put life into perspective like being out in nature. I’m also a bit of an adrenaline junkie—I’ll never say no to skydiving, zip-lining, or a new adventure!
If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and self-discovery, I’d love to walk alongside you. You deserve to feel whole, empowered, and at peace. Let’s take that first step together!
History And Qualifications
I have experience working with diverse populations, including individuals in crisis, families navigating the child welfare system, and those facing complex personal and environmental challenges. I have worked closely with clients affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, severe mental health crises, poverty, job loss, and grief. I also have experience working with individuals who have experienced severe trauma, whether from isolated events or generational cycles of hardship.
I take a whole-person approach, recognizing that mental health is influenced by more than just internal struggles. Family relationships, workplace culture, school environments, and broader community systems all play a critical role in emotional well-being. By considering these factors, I can better understand each client’s experiences and tailor my approach to meet their specific needs.
This holistic perspective, along with my commitment to multicultural awareness and trauma-informed care, allows me to meet clients where they are and create a safe, supportive, and accessible space for healing and growth. My goal is to help individuals break free from harmful patterns, build resilience, and take meaningful steps toward lasting change.
