My approach to therapy is warm, empathetic, and grounded in Humanistic therapy principles. I also utilize techniques from modalities like Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring my approach to your unique needs.

Vanessa Martinez's Other Specialities

My sweet spot is working with adolescents and families struggling with depression, trauma, and PTSD. My experience includes intensive outpatient programs where we offer a supportive and structured environment for healing. Helping teens, young adults, and families develop healthy coping skills is immensely important to me.

Before pursuing counseling, Vanessa was a professional dancer, teaching dance in public schools and spending eleven years in the National Football League.

Today, Vanessa stays active with biking and yoga, enjoys a good book, and loves spending time with her beloved little dog.

History And Qualifications

Vanessa holds two master’s degrees, one in School Counseling from St. Thomas University and another in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.  She’s constantly expanding her knowledge base and is currently pursuing her doctorate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Texas Tech University.

She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-associate) supervised by Misha Holtcamp, LPC-S, and works as a lead high school counselor in Houston, Texas. Vanessa has previously worked with adolescents, young adults, and families at an intensive outpatient program (IOP) through Charlie Health and in a private practice setting. Vanessa has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Beyond her therapeutic training, Vanessa’s years as a professional dancer instilled in her a deep understanding of the mind-body connection. Her impressive eleven years in the National Football League world taught her invaluable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and mental fortitude in the face of pressure. These experiences allow her to connect with clients facing similar challenges and guide them in building their own inner strength.
