Are You A Young Adult Struggling To Navigate Life’s Uncertainties?
According to psychologist Meg Jay, author of The Defining Decade, 88 percent of life’s most defining moments occur by the age of 35.

Young Adults Go Through Many Life Transitions
Leaving home for college, finding a job, forming intimate relationships, and starting a family are but a few of the milestones and challenges that you may encounter.
More often than not, a great deal of stress and anxiety—even loneliness—is born out of the uncertainty created by these life transitions.
With these changes, you are likely feeling overwhelmed, frightened and insecure, unsure of what to do and so afraid to make the wrong choice that you inevitably do nothing.
But that’s where Eddins Counseling Group can help. With our guidance and support, you can discover your place in this world and gain the self-awareness, confidence, and life skills necessary to overcome future challenges on your own.

Your Twenties Are A Critical Period Of Development
You may be surprised to hear that more happens developmentally in your twenties than at any other period in your adult life. We know that lifetime earning potential is largely decided by what you do and what you don’t do in your twenties.
Your personality will change more during this time than any other. And generally speaking, you’ll either get married or begin dating your future spouse by the time you are thirty—35 at the most.
Moreover, the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for decision-making and planning—caps off its last major growth stage somewhere between the ages of 20 and 30. Up until then, it’s as if the brain is trying to put together a puzzle that’s missing a bunch of pieces.
Added to the mix are social media and the power it has to make people feel inadequate, which is just an illusion.
In the words of philosopher Charles de Montesquieu,
“If we only wanted to be happy, it would be easy; but we want to be happier than other people, which is almost always difficult, since we think them happier than they are.”

Therapy For Young Adults Can Help You Find Direction And Reveal Your True Value
Pop singer Billie Eilish once stated,
“I have never felt desired. My past boyfriends never made me feel desired. None of them. And it’s a big thing that I have never been physically desired by someone.”
That sense of loneliness and lack of worth is something that haunts many young people struggling to find direction and identify who they are. That’s why counseling for young adults can be so empowering.
Working with a therapist gives you a chance to clarify your values and establish goals. It teaches you to plan for your own well-being and shows you how to be kind to both your future and present self.
And therapy creates a deeper self-awareness and offers practical skills for overcoming problems, mental health issues, building relationships, and discovering your true value.
What to Expect When Starting Therapy
To get started, we’ll have our client care coordinator match you with a therapist who specializes in issues unique to young adults. When you meet with your counselor, you will have an opportunity to discuss your background, symptoms, and concerns as well as your goals so we can create a plan of action together.
Initially, we’ll meet with you for weekly therapy sessions, and as you progress, we’ll adjust our schedule accordingly.
As therapists, we are not here to tell you what to do; rather, we are here to help you make objective and informed decisions that best suit YOUR needs and desires.
And because many concerns during the twenties are situational, we focus on teaching you how to regulate emotions, manage depression, anxiety and uncertainty, and overcome problems rather than labeling you with a diagnosis. (Though in some cases learning more about a particular diagnosis can be helpful in normalizing your experience and getting appropriate treatment).
We also want to help you interrupt any negative thoughts, critical or catastrophic thinking patterns that are holding you back. To do that, we use a powerful intervention called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for young adults, which enables us to replace negative “what if” thoughts with positive “what is possible” ideas.
For issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationships, we draw from various other modalities to create a comprehensive approach to healing.
