The Adolescent Girls Therapy Group provides a supportive environment for girls to navigate the transition of early adolescence and celebrate their unique identity. Girls will learn how to boost self-confidence, strengthen interpersonal relationships, develop empathy and connectedness, and cope more effectively with daily stressors. The group is led by an experienced adolescent therapist, Charisse Ferrer. The therapy group uses a mixture of experiential exercises and group discussion to help girls foster a healthy identity and positive relationships with others.

Group therapy provides a comfortable, safe environment for teens to explore concerns, stressors, feelings, and themselves. It can be especially powerful for girls who feel less comfortable around others as the connection and safety of the group builds social skills.

The group is appropriate for early adolescent girls ages 13-16. Common reasons for joining group include:

Meet Your Facilitator – Charisse Ferrer
Charisse Ferrer is the teen therapist for Eddins Counseling Group. Charisse has experience working with teens going through depression, anxiety and self-harm behaviors in outpatient and inpatient programs. She uses a client-centered approach to help gain self-confidence, while teaching helpful coping skills along the way. Charisse is also skilled in building validating communication skills between teens and their parents.
In her spare time, Charisse likes to try out new restaurants, travel with her husband and take photos of nature that she posts to Instagram. Charisse also enjoys listening to playlists made by her teen group at the hospital on Spotify.
Charisse’s main goal is to help you feel accepted and understood so you may gain trust and independence. She hopes to work towards your goals so that you may gain peace of mind in knowing that you and your family feels safe and stable.
Interested participants will need to schedule an initial intake session meet with the group facilitator prior to the start of group to assess fit between client needs and group focus.
Date/Time: The girl’s group meets weekly on Thursdays from 5- 6 pm beginning March 23rd, 2017 and will meet for 12 weeks.
