Holly's Focus
Whether you came from a difficult background where things at home weren’t stable, and your learning or confidence was impacted, or, if you have certain talents or gifts, but don’t know how they might fit a career path, I can help. I spent 4 years improving the lives of children who were in the foster care system and some who had special needs. I was also a social worker at a performing and visual arts high school, which allowed me to understand the brain in a unique way. I will use what I’ve learned to help you through your transition into adulthood—career planning, managing finances, living away from home, or saving to move out.
Therapy for Young Adults
Or, you may be an adult who has completed these stages and want help in your relationships, planning to live together, get married, or start a family. These are what we explore as adults, and, I’m here to help. As much as you may want, it’s okay to not accomplish it all at once. Thinking you should may be unrealistic! But, planning for your future can be fun and exciting, allowing you the time to prepare and save for what you want. I’d love to help you sort through your desires, wants, and needs, and help keep you on track, with realistic expectations and goals. You’re not alone in this, and I can help.
Holly's Other Specialities
The journey into adulthood can be stressful. So, having a caring, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable young adult therapist like me who can help you tackle the challenges these transitions bring can be an unbelievable asset! I understand the difficulties that come with these stages of life and will help you through them by being open, honest, and supportive. Our therapy relationship will be individualized, genuine, and tailored specifically to you. I bring my real self into therapy and will always approach our work together with honesty, empathy, and connection. The methods I may use with you include mentalization (to help you understand your feelings and those of others), psychodynamic (to understand the unconscious forces that underlie your thoughts and behaviors which come from early childhood), mindfulness (awareness of paying attention, on purpose and in the present moment, without judgment), dialectical behavioral therapy (living in the moment, while accepting the contradiction between self-acceptance and change), and cognitive behavioral therapy (which counteracts the negative thinking of depression, identifies the problem and brainstorm solutions, etc.). So…why choose me? From a very young age, I have had a unique way of connecting with people that allowed them to feel comfortable, at ease, accepted, and not judged. I still do! And, I know the challenges teens and adults face in a sometimes scary world — the harshness and comparisons on social media, school and workplace bullying, severe pressures at school or work, cliques, and body and social image issues. These all contribute to the complicated lives of teens and young adults. Know that I bring a unique understanding of these issues, coupled with excellent training and experience, to provide a non-shaming, non-judgmental, very affirming, and safe place for clients to express themselves, gain a better understanding of the patterns in their lives and work towards their goals. And, I truly want to help you, too! In addition to the many methods I mentioned earlier, my expertise covers a variety of struggles — anxiety, depression, self-worth, behavioral problems, relationship conflict, communication, adoption, and any other underlying issues that get in the way of living a fully satisfying life. In my therapy for young adults, I often work with multiple concerns as this is the time of life when relationship, career, and mental health concerns bubble up.
More relevant experience
I worked as a therapist on an intensive outpatient hospital team counseling adolescent and adult clients with complex clinical issues. As a master’s level intern at Baylor College of Medicine Community Programs, I mentored students in the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program and worked with the Heart and Sole Program coaching middle school girls on aspects of self-love. So…why not reach out? There’s no pressure to make an appointment or commitment. I understand how difficult it might be to reach out for help. But I truly believe that doing so is one of the bravest things you can do. You can call me for a free phone consultation. Or you can email me with any questions you might have. There’s no pressure to start therapy. But I can let you know what it’s about and how I can help. I look forward to hearing from you!

What Clients Are Saying
Helpful in finding the right therapist for me!
I’ve told multiple people in my life who are considering therapy to contact Eddins. I liked that I was able to do a consultation and they figured out who would best fit my needs because picking a therapist on my own would’ve been extremely overwhelming. Also, sometimes it can be discouraging to try a new therapist and not be a good match. It’s also convenient that virtual and in-person sessions are offered.
