Entering early adulthood can feel overwhelming and intimidating.  Whether you are in high school, taking the SATs or choosing a college, or figuring out or changing your career, I can help assess your strengths and abilities, calm your fears, improve your confidence, and move forward with a solid plan and direction for your life.

Holly's Focus

Therapy for Teens

Adolescence can be an overwhelming stage of life. From social and educational comparisons to figuring out identity and values, there is a lot to navigate during this time. I work with teens to figure out who they want to be and how they want to feel. I assist clients in learning ways to regulate emotion, improve confidence, and make decisions that they can feel proud of.

In addition to my full time job as a psychotherapist, I have also spent the past 6 years working part time as a Social Emotional Counselor at Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts, which allows me to understand the artistic brain in a unique way. I love helping teens through transitions into adulthood—college and career planning, managing finances, living away from home, or adjusting to a new level of independence.

I understand the difficulties that come with this stage of life and I will help you through them with the trusting therapeutic relationship we can form.

Therapy for Adults

My work with adults is tailored to each individual’s specific needs. I work with clients to help with anxiety, perfectionism, depression, focus and attention issues, relationship concerns, and managing emotions about the painful parts of life.

I can assist you in understanding  and processing your past in order to help you feel less overwhelmed or stuck. We can work to heal and process these experiences in order to live the life you are striving for. You may be an adult who wants help in transitions into or out of romantic relationships or career opportunities.  These are what we explore as adults, and I’m here to help.

As much as you may want to, it’s okay to not accomplish all of your goals at once, and thinking that you should may be unrealistic! Planning for your future can and should be fun and exciting, allowing you the time to prepare and save for what you want.  I’d love to help you sort through your desires, wants, and needs, and help keep you on track, with realistic expectations and goals. You’re not alone in this, and I am here to help you.

Holly's Other Specialities

The journey into adulthood can be stressful, so having a caring, non-judgmental, and knowledgeable therapist like me who can help you tackle the challenges these transitions bring can be an unbelievable asset. I understand the difficulties that come with these stages of life and will help you through them by being open, honest, and supportive.

Our therapy relationship will be individualized, genuine, and tailored specifically to you.  I bring my real self into therapy and will always approach our work together with honesty, empathy, and connection. When working with clients I often focus on the mind-body connection. The methods I may use with you include mentalization (to help you understand your feelings and those of others), psychodynamic (to understand the unconscious forces that underlie your thoughts and behaviors which come from early childhood), mindfulness (awareness of paying attention, on purpose and in the present moment, without judgment), dialectical behavioral therapy (living in the moment, while accepting the contradiction between self-acceptance and change), and cognitive behavioral therapy (which counteracts the negative thinking of depression, identifies the problem and brainstorm solutions, etc.).

So…why choose me? I have the experience to understand the challenges teens and adults face in a sometimes scary world — the harshness and comparisons on social media, school and workplace bullying, severe pressures at school or work, cliques, and body and social image issues. I bring a unique understanding of these issues, coupled with excellent training and experience, to provide a non-shaming, non-judgmental, very affirming, and safe place for clients to express themselves, gain a better understanding of the patterns in their lives and work towards their goals. And, I truly want to help you, too!

In addition to the many methods I mentioned earlier, my expertise covers a variety of struggles — anxiety, depression, self-worth, behavioral problems, relationship conflict, communication, adoption, LGBT+ concerns, and any other underlying issues that get in the way of living a fully satisfying life. In my therapy for young adults, I often work with multiple concerns as this is the time of life when relationship, career, and mental health concerns bubble up.

So…why not reach out? There’s no pressure to make an appointment or commitment. I understand how difficult it might be to reach out for help.  But I truly believe that doing so is one of the bravest things you can do. You can call me for a free phone consultation.  Or you can email me with any questions you might have. I can let you know what therapy with me is all about and answer any questions you have.  I look forward to hearing from you!
