Whether you create masterpieces, doodle in the margins, paint by number, or color outside the lines, making art is known to benefit your mental health.

Thanks to the calming effects of creativity, your brain will thank you for spending time making something beautiful. Not sure where to start? Look no further.

Below, Eddins Counseling Group in Houston, Texas, has rounded up some of the best art studios in the Houston area to help you on your artistic journey.

Art Square Studios

Art Square Studios in Houston is a top choice for artists of all kinds, from beginners to seasoned professionals. Whether you want to get into painting, photography, graphic or fashion design, or anything else where you have to think outside the box, this is your one-stop shop for creativity.

Since 1999, Art Square Studios has been an important part of the Houston art community and has improved the stigma around artists working in isolation. Owners Ben and Vicki bought the abandoned Midtown structure in 1997 after their art store was successful throughout the 80s and 90s.

Now, thanks to their community involvement, they have built solid relationships with local establishments and improved the lives of local artists and the surrounding businesses.

Art Square Studio has four Houston locations and is already home to more than 20 artists of varying abilities and media types. This means that no matter your level, you’re in good company. Don’t have the right supplies to start your new craft? Art Supply on Main Street has tools for every skill level.
