COVID-19 has taken quite a toll on our well being and our love lives.

Deciding on an engaging date night can be challenging as it is, and when you add a pandemic in the mix, things become even more tricky!

It is important to continue to cultivate your relationship and pay especially close attention to the needs of your partner while isolating.

At a time when every day can feel monotonous and it is so easy to give in to the overwhelming stress of an unknown future, dating becomes all the more essential.

Break out of your routine and invest in finding new levels of connection with your partner. This will have enormous benefits on the health of your relationship and on your individual mental health.

With health and safety at the forefront of your mind, some of your go-to date ideas may be off the table.

In order to maintain social distancing and follow all recommended health guidelines, you should avoid large groups of people in public places. That means no nights at a bar or dancing at the club, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have incredibly meaningful socially distanced dates.

Don’t let the pandemic put a downer on your romance or prevent you from moving your relationship forward.

We’ve put together a list of 17 romantic, connecting, and exciting social distancing date night activities for you and your significant other to safely do together.

1.Scavenger Hunts

If you’re looking to add some adventure to your love life, we’ve got just the right thing for you.

Let’s Roam has created date night scavenger hunts that are specially designed to strengthen couples’ connections and inject relationships with much-needed excitement. Let’s Roam’s date night outdoor hunts are epic app-led quests that take you on a gamified tour of your city with your partner.

The scavenger hunt tours are completely outdoors, so it’s easy to social distance and wear a mask on your adventure. Throughout the journey, you’ll be presented with challenges custom made to bond couples.

New experiences have been proven to build connections, and with this scavenger hunt you’ll discover new city sights, new fun facts, and create new memories.

If you’re not comfortable venturing into the city, you can cozy up and adventure inside your home with an epic indoor scavenger hunt. You can rediscover the romance without leaving home, taking on romantic challenges, trivia questions, and couples games to rekindle that spark.

2. Care Package

Show your partner just how much you care by putting together an adorable care package. Make a box of memories for your loved one with inside jokes and items that remind you of sentimental moments throughout your relationship.

Include a copy of the first movie you watched together, your favorite snack to share, a book you both love, some sweet candles, chocolate – the possibilities are. Deliver the box with a love letter.

Even if you’re living in the same place, this extra-special delivery will get your hearts beating faster as you remember the wonderful times you’ve shared. Talk through the memories as you unpack the boxes and get ready for sweetness that makes your problems temporarily melt away.

3.Virtual Concerts

Nothing brings a couple together like a shared taste in music. With COVID-19 having taken over, celebrities and musicians are putting on intimate virtual concerts.

Treat your partner to a virtual concert by a favorite pop star, and sing along from home. If you’re looking for free options, find a free concert on YouTube and cuddle up on the couch while you enjoy the music.

Load up on concert snacks, wear your concert merch, get dolled up, and sing the night away!

4. Wine and Cheese Tasting

Date Night Idea: Wine and Cheese TastingAdd some intrigue and elegance to your date night with a mystery wine and cheese tasting kit from The Cheese Geek. With a curated box of fine wines and delicious cheeses, you can learn the fine art of becoming a wine connoisseur.

This is a great couples’ activity to partake in while social distancing – the package is delivered to your doorstep. Unbox and try the goodies out together as you chat and bond.

Focus on asking each other questions that scrape below the surface and lead to uncovering new sides to your significant other. (As a bonus, wine is a proven aphrodisiac!)

5. Virtual Escape Room

Intense experiences bring couples closer together, and virtual escape rooms can be very intense. Put your grey cells to the test with a virtual escape room.

Plan, strategize and solve puzzles together as you try to escape and emerge victorious. From this Insiders puzzle to this Harry Potter challenge, there are quite a few virtual escape room options to choose from. Have fun puzzling!

6. Coloring Together

Coloring is a proven stress reliever, so why not turn it into a social distancing date to shuck off the stress of these times? Catch up with your significant other, laugh together, and unleash your creativity as you color something beautiful.

You can print some coloring sheets from the internet, or purchase a new coloring book (they make some just for adults). This laid-back activity is the perfect way to fall in love over colors, patterns, and conversation.

7. Dress Up

Staying in quarantine means no dressing up and heading out to bars, restaurants, and clubs. Don’t let this bring you down! Choose a night to have a “fancy” at-home date.

Couple in loveDress up for your partner and connect while social distancing. You can take this to the next level by planning different costume challenges and funny themes like Retro, Game of Thrones, and many more.

Make DIY outfits and put on a fashion show. Dressing up boosts confidence, which is good for your mental health and the health of your relationship.

8. Google Map Date

Take a trip down virtual memory lane as you use Google Map’s street view feature. Show your significant other where you grew up, the places you loved visiting as a kid, and sites that made an impact on who you are today.

You’ll learn more about each other by discovering what helped shape your partner’s personality. Then, move the virtual focus to sites meaningful to your relationship- rediscover your favorite couples hang out spots – where you first kissed, the first park you went to, and many more.

(Pssst. You can explore a new city you’ve always wanted to go to on Google Maps too! It can be a virtual vacation.)

9. Netflix Party

The pandemic may have put us in quarantine but it can’t take Netflix and Chill away! Use the Netlfix party extension to binge your fav movies and series together.

If you’re living together, simply turn on Netflix and choose a movie that will help you connect with your partner and relieve some everyday stress (we think comedies are best for this). Order in some pizza and popcorn to add to the ‘movie theatre’ ambiance.

10. Workout Together

Couples that sweat together, stay together, right?

Pull up a workout video on YouTube and burn some calories together. Motivate each other to keep up, and add some fun challenges to the mix.

Plan your next cheat meal together while you’re at it! You’ll get endorphins, which will make you happy, which will make your relationship happier.

Everybody wins.

11. Karaoke

social distancing date night idea, online karaokeIf going to a virtual concert sounds too mainstream, try out online couples’ karaoke. Find karaoke versions of your favorite songs online and sing them together as loudly as possible.

Better yet – curate a playlist of the songs that are meaningful to you as a couple– what song did you first dance to? Which song played when you went on a romantic drive? Serenade each other while social distancing!

12. Virtual Class

Pick up a new hobby and learn something new with your partner while quarantining. Make the best of the lockdown and find something fun to do together.

Have you been wanting to learn how to tie-dye? Or maybe make a terrarium? Whatever it is, we guarantee there’s an online class that will help you learn it.

Sign up for a couples’ class and rekindle your relationship through the power of learning together.

13. Trivia Night

How well do you and your partner know each other? Put your memory to the test with a virtual trivia night. Who made the first move? Where did you go on your first date? Who cooks better?

Put together a list of fun questions all about your relationship and take turns answering. You’ll fall in love all over again!

14. Museum Tour

If you’re on the geeky side, this activity is perfect for you. With the pandemic pausing in-person tours and sightseeing, iconic museums around the world are now open to virtual tours!

From the Louvre to the Smithsonian, hundreds of museums offer free virtual tours and sneak-peeks. Go on a virtual museum date with your loved one and enjoy the wonders of art and science.

Fans of outer space? Tell your significant other you love them “to the moon and back” with a tour of NASA’s base!

15. Ordering Each Other’s Meals

Are you one of those couples that can never decide what to eat? Add some fun to the mix and order each other’s meals!

Curate a meal and dessert for your S/O and get it delivered. Then, unpack each meal together and enjoy a romantic date night.

Light some candles and enjoy each other’s company as you chow down and social distance. (Here’s a pro tip: send some flowers with your meal to win your partner’s heart over!)

16. Video Game Night

A little competition is good for the relationship, so a video game night with your significant other will take your bond to the next level. Find your favorite video games and play them together (board games are great too).

If one of you doesn’t know to play, this is a great time to learn! Ask your partner to show you the ropes and play together. This is the perfect bonding activity while stuck at home.

From Minecraft and Animal Crossing to PUBG and WOW, there are hundreds of options to choose from. This is a “winner” in our books!

17. Double Date Book Club

Miss hanging out with your friends? Plan a double date with another couple and go on a virtual book club date together.

Choose a book beforehand and discuss your favorite parts over video call and coffee. Maintaining social ties to people outside your relationship is just as important as strengthening your bond with your partner, so try to host a virtual double date regularly.
