Alexis's Focus
Perhaps you find yourself struggling to enjoy activities that used to bring you joy. Or questioning if you’ve made the “right” choices. Maybe you find yourself feeling chronically tired, unable to engage in activities, or connect in your relationships in the same way. You may even find that your work or school performance has suffered as a result of low motivation, apathy, or fatigue. Our hustle and bustle society doesn’t always lend itself to the appropriate amount of time to rest, relax, restore, and enjoy ourselves and those around us. We often struggle to find time for ourselves, set boundaries and enjoy our well-deserved time outside of school or the office. This takes a toll not only on our bodies but our brains, too! It’s possible you find yourself feeling too much all at once. Perhaps you might feel nothing at all. Even more, you may find yourself vacillating between each extreme. Do others tell you you’re “too sensitive” or that you “overreact”? Do you find it difficult to regulate your emotional experiences or tolerate distress when you notice it? Perhaps others don’t really seem to “get you” or “get it.” If you find yourself struggling to regulate your emotions – especially if you experience high alertness at times and total numbness at others for seemingly known reasons – this could be your body trying to send you a message.

Alexis's Other Specialities
Do you find yourself struggling with any of the following? Intrusive thoughts or memories, flashbacks, or nightmares; avoidance of places that remind you of negative experiences; negative self-perception, hopelessness, memory problems, feeling detached from others; guilt/shame, or self-destructive behaviors? If so, know that I can help! Personally, I know what it can be like to feel constantly worried about things outside of your control. I also know what it feels like to be hopeless and question if everything really seems worth it. I believe that my own lived experience is a tool to facilitate deeper connections and empathy within the therapeutic relationship. Although we may not have the exact same backgrounds, we are both human and have likely experienced the same great spectrum of emotions that come with this experience of being human. I would be honored for the opportunity to serve as a guide to help unlock the answers that are already within you as we collaborate on creating a life that allows you to flourish and reach your fullest potential.
Therapeutic Framework & Experience
I am formally trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but prefer to focus on a collaborative, client-centered approach. Additionally, I have experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I am an Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trained clinician. I have experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults with diagnoses such as Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Autism Spectrum, and Complex Trauma.
